I no longer use this blog, but I'm leaving it up for archival purposes. Feel free to ask me ferret questions, though, through email instead. (See most recent post.)

"This is Barbosa he was my furry baby.  He passed away a year ago today. I did this in memory of him. No fuzzy will ever compare to him in my eyes."

Um is it weird for a ferret to fall asleep in the bath? It freaked me out. But she started her little snore and I figured she fell asleep. Lol

I’m gonna go ahead and say no, that’s not normal— but as long as they’re safe, nothing to worry about, hopefully! That bubble bath was just so relaxing.

Thank you ferretorium!! Thanks to your cute photos, knowledgeable answers, discussions and more I fell in love with ferrets! Now after a year and a half of following you (and being besotted with ferrets) I finally decided it was time to buy my own… And so on 2nd December 2012 I will be taking home one of the gorgeous kits with me to mother and love and spend all my money on! Thank you thank you thank you! I wouldn’t have done it without you xxxx

Brb, dying of cuteness. ♥I am SO HAPPY for you!! These little babies are so precious, you should be really excited. ♥ It really makes all this blogging and advice-giving worthwhile to see folks like you show your appreciation. Thank you for the submission, it’s so appreciated. If you don’t mind my asking, where is your future ferret coming from? A private breeder, perhaps? ;D

I was just wondering, for confirmation purposes mainly, but I do believe our little girl is partially deaf at least, she wont react to anything but really loud noises and she deadsleeps all the time. She also plays really loud, dooking and hissing a lot. Does this look like a case of waardenburg syndrome?

Yes! She has a lot of white splotches, and if you compare her eyes to a normal ferret’s, you’ll notice she’s probably a little “cross-eyed” or at least the orientation of her eyes is set a little differently. Waardenburg animals and people also have malformed palates in their mouths, so I think that’s why deafies look a little goofy in the face department. ANYWAYHer behavior sounds exactly like a deafie. Deafies dook and hiss and squeal a lot more than hearing ferrets. It could be that she has some degree of hearing, but she’s definitely a Waardenburg. Very cute, too. ;D
